# Overview

### What is the GOAT Protocol?

Goat Protocol is transforming decentralized finance (DeFi) with efficient wealth management solutions. The platform provides users with unparalleled opportunities to maximize their returns through high APYs from curated yields, leveraging Uniswap v4’s hook features, and enabling auto-compounded multi-strategy vaults.

The protocol is maintained by independent developers and is governed by GOA holders.

### What is the GOA Token?

The[ ](https://docs.goat.fi/the-goat-ecosystem/goa-token)[GOA Token](https://docs.goat.fi/the-goat-ecosystem/goa-token) is the governance and revenue accrual token of the [GOAT DAO](https://docs.goat.fi/goat-dao). The GOA Token gives stakeholders the right to vote on [Governance](https://docs.goat.fi/goat-dao/governance) decisions for the DAO. Also, by staking GOA users will receive a share of the revenue (currently 80% revenue) generated by the Protocol.

The supply of GOA is limited to 1,000,000 tokens.

GOA token is a fair-launch type token, there was no pre-farm or pre-sale, anyone could farm and accrue while in the distribution phase, for more information see [Token Distribution](https://docs.goat.fi/the-goat-ecosystem/goa-token/token-distribution).

Check the token distribution docs to better understand how GOA is being distributed:
